Simon Payne

General Counsel and Company Secretary,
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

Simon Payne was awarded LLB (Hons) from the University of Buckingham in 2004 and completed his Bar Vocational course at BPP in London. Simon completed a corporate/commercial pupillage in Bermuda with Wakefield Quin and later at Appleby where he practiced corporate and commercial law with a focus on Insurance, Mutual Funds, offshore regulatory and compliance matters. In 2008 Simon was appointed Company Secretary for a group of Australian infrastructure funds. In 2013 Simon joined Argus Insurance (a publicly traded Bermuda insurance company) as Assistant General Counsel and Company Secretary. In 2016 Simon returned to the UK where he was appointed Commercial Counsel at the RNLI. In May 2018 Simon was appointed General Counsel and Company Secretary of the RNLI. Simon is married with four children, a two-time Winter Olympian and an avid bee keeper.
